The holidays are the best time of year to curl up on the couch and watch movies! While I enjoy watching sports, American Greed and 90210 reruns, nothing beats the magic of the movies. Here are a few new and old classics that feature furry friends – and heartwarming storylines perfect for this time of year.
I Want a Dog For Christmas, Charlie Brown (2003) I love 1965’s A Charlie Brown Christmas, and this more recent flick finds Linus and Lucy’s younger brother Rerun longing for a canine pal for Christmas. Of course, I can’t resist a holiday flick that features a puppy as the ultimate Christmas present.
101 Dalmations (1961, 1996) Whether you watch the old animated classic or the newer remake, this classic anti-fur flick stands the test of time.
Lady and The Tramp (1955) Who needs West Side Story when there’s Lady and the Tramp? Dim the lights, turn on the tree, and get swept away by this romantic story of a high class Cocker Spanielwho falls in love with a mutt from the wrong side of the tracks.
Marley & Me (2008) They say dogs teach humans about themselves, and no movie makes this more evident than the endearing Marley & Me.
Best in Show (2000) For fans of satire, this is the ultimate pup-pic. A group of neurotic dog owners gather at a national dog show, and hilarity ensues.
Hachi: a Dog’s Tale (2009) They say a dog is man’s best friend, and this sweet movie starring Richard Gere is a mbeautiful illustration of the bond between an abandoned Akita and the college professor who takes him in.
